Path

My path is like a river that started off small; over time developed twists and turns, rocky currents with slow and steady steams in the mix. These life experiences shaped me into the person I am today, giving me the opportunity to view the world differently and connect with others in a mutual understanding. My river is still growing, gaining knowledge at every moment in my life. Of course, there is the unknown that lies beyond the bend, in life we may not always be able to control that moment in life, but we can determine how those moments shape us. This has allowed me to connect with others on a deeper level, guiding them through their own river of rocks, bends, and occasional waterfalls.

Experience

I have lived in several states growing up due to being in a military family. I am originally from New York, but once my father retired, I moved to Delaware.  I started my education at University Of Maryland Eastern Shore in Rehabilitation Psychology but transferred my Sophomore year to Wilmington University to graduate a year early. I wanted to go to Wilmington University for Clinical Mental Health Counseling but was unable to do so. So, I decided to change my direction and am currently attending Capella University for Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This path gave me the opportunity to travel to Atlanta, GA and Jacksonville, FL, meeting awesome people in the process. Currently, I am an intern at Mental Edge Counseling, LLC under Kenneth Phillips, LPCMH. I am expected to graduate in March of 2019 with my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and will start my journey to become a LPCMH.

Personal Philosophy

My approach in therapy is centered around Impact Therapy (IT) and is multi-sensory driven. I recognize change or impact may not always be verbal, but also visual and kinesthetic. I combine creative counseling techniques, so my clients can process and explore their emotions, behaviors, and solutions with me. I act as a guide to empower my clients and strive to always show them respect. I love helping people visually see themselves and challenge the problems and celebrating the slight victories along the way to reach their overall goal.
